What affects a sports quad's price
Standard or modified
Parts from known brands can hold their value. Home-made wiring doesn't, and nor do cut plastics.
Engine history
Hours since the last top-end rebuild, and who did it. Receipts for the piston and valves help a lot.
Frame and suspension
Track quads crack welds and bend A-arms. Photos of the frame tell us most.
Stock parts in the shed
Original shocks or plastics sitting in the shed? They go in the price.
A Raptor with a V5C
A V5C in your name and a road registration can widen the market for a Raptor or similar.
Receipts for a track-only quad
V5C or proof of purchase, such as the receipt from the racer you bought it from. We check your ID and the frame number against it.
Modified? Tell us what's been done
If you want to sell your sports quad and it isn't standard, tell us exactly what's been changed. Mods are normal on these. You'll get a firmer offer from a clear list than from "loads spent on it".
The usual mods
Usually it's an aftermarket exhaust and nerf bars. Then come wider A-arms and better shocks. Engine work tends to mean a big-bore or high-compression kit. Give us the brand. For engine work, tell us who did it and when, because a big-bore kit with an engine builder's receipt is a very different thing from one fitted in a shed.
Be honest about what the mods mean. A big-bore engine and a race exhaust make a quad quicker. They can also make it louder and less reliable, which not every buyer wants. We'll tell you straight which mods add value.
Do you have the original parts?
Kept the standard exhaust? Include it, and the airbox lid if you have that too. Some buyers want to put a quad back to standard, especially for road use. List what you've got in the form. Add a photo if you can.
Race quads and track machines
Yes, we buy race quads. A motocross quad that has lived on a trailer between meetings and never been road registered is fine. Cross-country and enduro machines too.
Tell us the race history and the maintenance: when the top end was last done and how many hours it has run since. Receipts in a folder show a quad has been looked after. That shows in the price.
Crashed it? Still fine. Snapped A-arms happen in racing, and so do twisted frames. Send photos of the damage and we'll price it as it stands. If it won't run at all, see how we buy a crashed or non-running quad.

Road-registered sports quads
Plenty of Raptors in the UK were registered for the road and carry a V5C and plates. If yours is one of them, have the V5C ready: a sports quad properly registered to you reaches more buyers, and that tends to lift the price.
The road rules for quads are strict. It has to be registered, taxed and insured, and once it's over three years old it needs an MOT. Our plain-English guide to quad road law has the detail. Track only with no V5C? That's fine too: a purchase receipt or bill of sale proves it's yours, and we match it to the frame number.

Each make has its own page, including where to find the frame number. Raptor or YFZ450R? That's on Yamaha quads. The TRX450R and TRX400EX sit under Honda quads, while Suzuki quads covers the LT-Z400 and LT-R450. For a KFX try Kawasaki quads. The DS 450 and Renegade are on Can-Am quads.

We need proof you own it. The receipt or bill of sale from when you bought it does the job, alongside a frame number check.
