What a Ranger's offer hangs on
Ranger hours on the display
Hours count for more than age, so a low-hours older Ranger can beat a busy newer one.
Electronic power steering (EPS)
An EPS badge means electronic power steering. Buyers look for it, and it adds value when it works.
NorthStar or aftermarket cab
Doors with a working heater lift the price, especially in autumn. The factory NorthStar cab sits at the top.
Tracks and winter kit
Winter kit in good order adds value. Kept the standard wheels? Say so.
Belt and fluid change dates
Stamps or receipts both count, plus when the drive belt and fluids were last changed.
A plate and a V5C
A registered Ranger with its V5C in your name and working lights has a wider market.
Midsize, full-size, Crew, Diesel, EV: which Ranger?
To sell your Polaris Ranger, we first need to know which one it is.
Ranger 500 and 570: the gateway-friendly Rangers
The 570 Midsize is narrow enough for field gateways and stable yards, while the 570 Full-Size puts the same engine in a bigger body with a bigger bed. Polaris brought a new Ranger 500 to Europe in 2026, with a 567cc engine.
XP 900 and XP 1000: the big petrol Rangers
More power and towing, and often a full cab. The XP 1000 NorthStar's factory cab is heated.
Crew: two rows for shoot teams
Two rows of seats and a cut-down bed. Shoots like them. So do fencing gangs.
Ranger Diesel: the farm puller
A three-cylinder diesel in the full-size body, available as a standard Ranger or a Crew. Farms buy it for the economy and the pulling power.
Ranger EV: the silent one
Different questions apply, so it has its own section below.
Road-registered Rangers
Plenty of Rangers never wore a plate. Polaris sells tractor-homologated (T1b) Rangers in the UK, and those can be registered and taxed for the road. Other Rangers were registered after sale. Our explainer on which quads and UTVs are road legal covers how that works.
A plated Ranger needs its V5C in your name. Bring photo ID too. We compare the VIN on the chassis with the V5C. Once it's sold, the registered keeper tells the DVLA. It takes a few minutes online, as GOV.UK explains on its sold a vehicle page, and our guide to telling the DVLA you've sold a quad or UTV walks through it.
No plate? The original invoice or other proof of ownership works, with the same VIN check. On a plated Ranger, tell us about any lights that don't work.
The Ranger EV: battery questions
We buy electric Rangers. The EV runs on a 48-volt lead-acid battery pack, which is most of its value, so expect these questions:
- How old are the batteries, and have they ever been replaced?
- What range does it manage on a full charge today?
- Is the charger with it, and does it work?
- Has it sat flat for months?
Tired batteries don't rule an EV out. They just change the number.
Other Polaris machines and the Ranger's rivals
Got a Sportsman or Scrambler quad too? It belongs on our page for Polaris quad bikes we buy. Bucket seats and long-travel suspension mean a sport machine, covered under selling a Polaris RZR buggy. Two Polaris machines in one yard can go on one trip.
We also buy the Ranger's farm rivals, the John Deere Gator and the Kawasaki Mule, and you'll find all the UTVs we buy in one place.
A Ranger that won't start, and getting a figure
Condition doesn't put us off a Ranger. If the belt's slipping or the engine won't crank, we price that in. The winch gets it onto the trailer from a stable yard or a field shelter.
For a real number, fill in the Ranger offer form. Pictures of the display and the bed help. If the Ranger matches the description on the day, the price stands.

Selling a Polaris Ranger: your questions
Will you buy a Ranger EV?
Yes. Tell us the battery age, the range it manages now and whether the charger comes with it.
What paperwork does a road-registered Ranger need?
Photo ID plus a V5C showing you as keeper. After the sale, the keeper tells the DVLA online.
Does a Ranger on tracks sell for more?
Track kits add value in good order. Say whether you still have the wheels.
Is a Crew worth more than a standard Ranger?
To a shoot that needs the seats, usually. Some farm buyers prefer the standard bed length.
Can you collect from a livery yard or stables?
Yes. We come at a quiet time for the yard, and collection is free.
